The Lost Words of JFK

Beginning in 2008, Lost Tapes debuted on Animal Planet.  This horror series featured a combination of legendary creatures like Bigfoot as well as supernatural ones such as vampires.  Each episode begins with a presupposition, “what if researchers have a real life encounter, able to film their experience.”  These lost tapes are later found by some one who stumbles upon this evidence, serving as a warning to steer clear of specific places or regions.

If you pour yourself out for the hungry and satisfy the desire of the afflicted, then shall your light rise in the darkness and your gloom be as the noonday, Isaiah 58:10.

In the real world, revisionist historians are now are work, trying to hide the Christian heritage upon which America was founded.  Most people don’t realize that many schools on the East Coast were created by churches to help educate children.  Tools such as the New England Primer introduced the alphabet with verses of the Bible that were memorized for each letter.  This is just one portion of history scrubbed from modern text books, teachings that are now lost and forgotten.

For you were called to freedom, brothers. Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another, Galatians 5:13.

The media is also good at suppressing audio soundbytes, news stories and previous statements that are contrary to the progressive moment.  One of my favorites statements comes from John F. Kennedy, “ask not which this country can do for you; but what you can do for this country.”  These lost words could revolutionize this country if practiced.  Yet, modern politicians want to create needy citizens who can’t live without government.  Subsequently, a generation of “what’s in it for me” has crippled the progress of our culture.  May these forgotten words of JFK inspire individuals to a live a life of faith, service and patriotism.

Snuffing Out Life

One of the largest and longest snakes known to exist on earth is the anaconda.  Native to the tropics of South America, some of these species have been discovered in the Florida Everglades over the last decade according to Animal Planet.  Similar to a reticulated python, this non-venomous snake uses its teeth to hold on before squeezing its victim to death.  The power of this beast essentially snuffs out the life of its prey through suffocation.

Lucifer or Satan is portrayed as a crafty serpent in Genesis 3:1 and Revelation 12:9.  However, the ruler of the air, Ephesians 2:2, known as the devil, only has one of his demons referenced in the New Testament.  While the term legion is used by John Mark in Mark 5:9 in context with a demon possessed man, the word actually refers to a number, commonly used by Roman military leaders.  This leaves Acts 16:16 as the only place an individual demon is named.  The King James version uses the phrase “spirit of python,” translated into most modern translations as a spirit of divination or foretelling the future.

The thought of money had blinded this girl’s owners from the internal struggle within her soul.  Upon seeing Paul in Acts 16:16-18, she cries out for help, a last ditch effort before having any chances of a spiritual life snuffed out.  Entangled by the grips of a demon, Paul saves her life while endangering his own.  The devil poisoned the minds of these greedy owners, convincing the towns people to place Paul, Silas and Luke in prison.  Immediately following one victory, Acts 16:19-24, Satan tries to squeeze out of the love of Jesus from these men.

Today, the devil is up to his usual tricks, using defeat, failure and trials to suck the life out of individuals.  John 10:10 isn’t just something written over 2,000 years ago that no longer applies.  Rather, every day is a spiritual war, a battle that won’t end until heaven and earth pass away.  Therefore, if you feel the presence of depression, stress or worry begin to wrap around your neck, use prayer to put on the full armor of God, Ephesians 6:13-18.  Fight fire with spiritual fire, 1 Timothy 6:12, to avoid having your life snuffed out prematurely.

Infestation

During the summer of 2004, a series of pop up thunderstorms hovered over portions of Newark, Delaware.  In a two week stretch, 27 inches of rain fell over my house, which happened to be undergoing a major makeover, adding a 3rd story.  While 3 separate waterfalls made it through to the first floor, my yard was a another story.

A new pond was added to our property, killing all the grass below.  Five truck loads of fill, 40 feet of drain tile and a retention pond was added to restore grass in my back yard.  Years of tilling, weeding and various applications brought a sense of pride back to my lawn.  However, like an episode of Animal Planet’s Infested, I woke up this morning to a weed infestation.

Living in the transition zone, between rye and bermuda  grass doesn’t help, yet there isn’t any grass remaining, except a few once plush sodded areas.  Dandelions, clovers and numerous aggressive weeds have erased 5 years of hard labor.  As in life, if you don’t keep up with daily maintenance, possessions begin to fall apart.  Likewise, if you don’t spend time in prayer, reading the Bible or in worship, a spiritual erosion washes your foundation away, Matthew 7:24-27.  Don’t wait any longer or your next infestation will drive you away from the people and things that you love!

Breaking Bad

A friend recently turned me onto the drama, Breaking Bad.  Debuting in 2008, this storyline features Walter White, a high school teacher who has been diagnosed with inoperable cancer.  Struggling to provide for his family, Walter turns to a former student, Jesse Pinkman to avoid leaving a legacy of debt.  Using his knowledge of chemistry, Mr. White starts up a methamphetamine ring to create a slush fund of savings.

Breaking bad is nothing new, a growing trend since the first act of disobedience  in Genesis 3:6.  An old testament prophet uses similar terminology in Malachi 2:10-12, referring to the broken faith of Jews, highlighted by their acts of unfaithfulness.  Even one of the holiest men who ever lived, the apostle Paul, confesses his own shortcomings in Romans 7:15, 17-18.

Northwest General Hospital

If this wasn’t enough, the United States of America is in their 5th decade of breaking bad.  Kicking God out of public education during the 1960’s opened the door for abortion on demand in the 70’s.  The establishment of cable television in the 1980’s brought immorality, pornography and sexual innuendos into many American homes.  With moral antennas lowered, the 1990’s brought brief nudity and cursing to public television through the hit series NYPD Blue.  Edgy commercials, custom malfunctions and reality shows continued to push the envelope in the 2000’s.

As my 3 children grew up in this shewed culture, I hate to see what the next 50 years will bring their kids.  If Animal Planet’s Tanked 2013 season premiere is any indication, I’m horrified.  Without any warning, in a show often geared for kids, the 2 main characters Brett and Wayde used the word jackass several times, doing a special tank for one of the main stars in the movie series.  As individuals, media outlets and nations slide down this slippery slope, there is only one who hasn’t lowered their standards, Hebrews 4:15-16.  Go against the flow, look up to Jesus and make a conscious decision to glorify God, 1 Peter 2:11-12, so that breaking bad doesn’t enter your mind!

Terrifying Truths

Whale Wars only on Animal Planet
According to the Blaze, some school districts in Texas are teaching that the Americans who participated in the Boston Tea Party were terrorists.  These same teachers are failing to cover the context of this dispute, fighting against taxation without representation.  If this same logic was applied across the board, the entire cast of Whale Wars on Animal Planet would also be construed as terrorists.  Instead, students are being indoctrinated with ideology, liberalism and political correctness, not historical truths of America.
To be honest, I had to erase my final 2 paragraphs after I had an epiphany at work.  Whether these teachers in Texas have not been shown the love of Jesus or they have been turned off to religion by hypocritical Christians, either way they are modern examples of Israel in Luke 19:41-44.  An entire generation has grown up without the Bible and prayer in public schools.  Individuals are being raised outside the church, by their culture through the media’s influences and many have embraced a secular worldview.  The by product of this truth is America’s education system with these Texas school districts being Exhibit A.
Since I have been working in a secular environment for the past 3 weeks, I am beginning to see why people outside the church act, behave and think the way they do.  Most people in this world are like sheep without a shepherd, aimlessly wandering whenever they want in life.  Jesus didn’t show anger and frustration toward the lost, rather he had compassion on them.  America may be lost for now, but by one person demonstrating the love of Christ locally, there is still hope for the future amidst this terrifying revelation in Texas.  Until people break down like Jesus in Luke 19:41 or the cupbearer in Nehemiah 1:4-11, motivation will be lacking.  Solomon was right, a sad face is good for the heart!
