A Volcano in the Sky

There are certain things in life that have fascinated me. Some of these things are good and wholesome while others are unwholesome like my obsession with volcanoes. Perhaps, this all began in my childhood as one of my neighbors grew up near Mount Saint Helens. After the 1980 eruption of Mount Saint Helens, this family showed me pictures of how beautiful this part of Washington state was before this natural disaster.

And after the seven days the floodwaters came upon the earth or land. 11 In the year 600 of Noah’s life, in the seventeenth day of the second month, that same day all the fountains of the great deep were broken up and burst forth, and the windows and floodgates of the heavens were opened. 12 And it rained upon the earth forty days and forty nights, Genesis 7:10-12.

According to Moses, the springs of the earth burst forth prior to the first rain event ever on earth. If you believe that Yellowstone National Park contains a super volcano in the form of the Yellowstone Caldera, this was likely when the first eruption occurred on earth. As the volcanic ash blocked out the sun, this could have triggered a global flood and set in motion the tectonic plates that tore apart Pangea to form the earth’s 7 continents.

Then the Lord rained on Sodom and on Gomorrah brimstone and fire from the Lord out of the heavens. 25 He overthrew, destroyed, and ended those cities, and all the valley and all the inhabitants of the cities, and what grew on the ground. 26 But [Lot’s] wife looked back from behind him, and she [b]became a pillar of salt, Genesis 19:24-26.

Whenever you try to describe or grasp the hand of God, it’s nearly impossible to do without divine knowledge and insight. However, after recently reading Genesis 19, the brimstone and fire from heaven seems to be similar to a modern-day pyroclastic flow. While Moses doesn’t mention an eruption, I can visualize some sort of volcano in the sky , situated above Sodom and Gomorrah. However, this tragic event happened, it’s a warning to continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling, Philippians 2:12.

God’s Plan to Alter Pangea

There isn’t much that biblical and secular historians agree upon. However, each parties believe that the earth was originally one continent, Pangea, Genesis 1:9-12. Furthermore, Christian and secular scientists support Genesis 2:4-5, acknowledgment of a worldwide aquifer system beneath the earth’s surface. Finally, while the amount of water that fell across the globe during a flood greatly varies, both believe that a great rainstorm did occur at some point on earth.

And God looked upon the world and saw how degenerate, debased, and vicious it was, for all humanity had corrupted their way upon the earth and lost their true direction. 13 God said to Noah, I intend to make an end of all flesh, for through men the land is filled with violence; and behold, I will [a]destroy them and the land, Genesis 6:12-13.

God’s plan to alter Pangea, the earth’s lone land mass, is made known following His disappointment with the choice’s human beings made. Following any rainstorm, there is usually debris, erosion and some sort of damage done to the earth. After experiencing forty straight days of a heavy downpour, something had to be done to Pangea to allow this water to recede. According to Moses in the passage below, there was an eruption beneath the earth’s surface which set in motion tectonic plates.

In the year 600 of Noah’s life, in the seventeenth day of the second month, that same day all the fountains of the great deep were broken up and burst forth, and the windows and floodgates of the heavens were opened. 12 And it rained upon the earth forty days and forty nights, Genesis 7:11-12.

If this bursting forth was the eruption of the Super Volcano inside of Yellowstone National Park for the first time, this would have created a pyroclastic cloud of ash, dust and rocks which would have blocked the sun’s rays for weeks or months. Subsequently, Pangea experienced its first rainstorm followed by the earth’s first ice age. Since archeologists have recently discovered traces of palm trees in artic regions, as active tectonic plates divided Pangea into 7 continents slowly over time, this is a sign of God’s plan to alter Pangea to provide new areas on earth for the flood waters to recede. This is supported by the Open Canopy theory, Pangea’s first unique atmosphere which has now been replaced by the current one which now exists on earth.

Globing Warming?

The Swedish scientist Svante Arrhenius is credited as the father of Global Warning.  According to Lenntech.com, Svante suggested fossil fuel combustion may result in enhanced global warming in 1896.  However, actual warming and cooling trends throughout history can be traced back to major volcanic eruptions or an absence of these eruptions.  Following the explosion of Mount Saint Helens on May 18th, 1980, experts in the media thought the earth was nearing a second ice age.  Thirty five years later, a lack of major eruptions have steered scientists back in the other direction, clinging to Svante’s presupposition.

God called the dry ground “land,” and the gathered waters he called “seas.” And God saw that it was good. – Genesis 1:10

Prior to Noah’s flood, the earth contained one continent, known as Pangea, consistent with Moses’ words in Genesis 1:10.  The initial climate on earth was ideal for dinosaurs, similar to the equator without the rain, Genesis 2:5-6, known as the Open Canopy Theory.  While most scholars claim dinosaurs disappeared after a meteor crashed into the earth, the Bible tells a different stories.  According to Genesis 7:11, a major eruption took place underneath of Pangea, setting into motion modern day tectonic plates which have formed 7 continents from one.  At this moment in time, the Yellowstone Caldera or super volcano underneath modern day Yellowstone National Park erupted for the first time.  Immediately following this event, the atmosphere was transformed causing rain to fall for the very first time.

In the six hundredth year of Noah’s life, on the seventeenth day of the second month—on that day all the springs of the great deep burst forth, and the floodgates of the heavens were opened. – Genesis 7:11

These massive eruptions likely led to the first ice age, as the rain which fell in the polar regions gradually began to freeze, forming glaciers at the Arctic and Antarctic Circles.  With the sun blocked by clouds of volcanic ash, the temperature likely fell to their coldest recordings ever.  This is the real version of The Day After Tomorrow, except not as fast, giving Noah and his family time to head south from Turkey for the Middle East.  Although global warming enthusiasts will continue to use propaganda to convince the masses, the average citizen can look out their window, read the thermometer and use common sense to tell when the globe is cooling or warming.

How Old Are You Now?

The aging process can be quite deceiving as physical appearances don’t always reveal a person’s true age.  Baldness, grey hair, stress or wrinkles can be false indicators, depending on someone’s occupation or their direct access to sunlight.  While theme parks attempt to coerce willing participants to have their ages guessed for a small fee, age can be a touchy subject, especially for women.  To be safe, its always better to under estimate an older person’s age and over estimate a younger person’s age, unless of course you work at a night club where ID’s are required.

From a biblical timeline, there are 2 different references to age: pre-flood and post flood.  According to Genesis 2:4-6, the earth’s original atmosphere following creation did not contain rain.  Instead, underground springs, water aquifers beneath the earth’s surface, sprung up to water the plants on the earth.  When you study the genealogy of Adam, you find the first 10 generations of inhabitant’s on earth had a life expectancy of 900 years.  This unique atmosphere often referred to as the Open Canopy Theory suggests the aging process was slowed down, limiting a human’s body from the sun’s radiation.

To simplify this in modern terms, 100 years of life in the original atmosphere is equivalent to 10 years under today’s conditions.  Thus, while Adam lived to be 930 years on earth, his body roughly reflected someone who is a 93 year old.  Recently, archeologists have discovered the remains of palms tree near the polar ice caps, supporting this theory.  In additional, scientists have concluded that prior to the world wide flood mentioned in Genesis 7:4-6, Pangea existed, a one land mass continent.  Following the first volcanic eruption detailed in Genesis 7:11, tectonic plates became active, forming what we now know as the 7 continents on earth.  While the flood may not have killed all the dinosaurs of the sea, the change in our atmosphere likely sealed the fate of this amazing creatures.

If you study the genealogy’s of the Bible, the post flood atmosphere began to accelerate the aging process.  However, as sin spread from the Garden of Eden throughout the world, Genesis 6:5, unexpected death became more common.  Wrongful deaths, murder and disease are normal today, a way of life, something everyone has to cope with and overcome.  Although some individuals survive to be 100 or more due to medical breakthroughs, everyone’s clock is ticking, Genesis 6:3.  Thus, as I reach half of Dale Earnhardt Junior’s Nascar Racing number in a month, I am doing my best to walk with the Lord, day by day, until He calls me home, Genesis 5:24.
