Who’s In Charge

In the book Authority in Prayer Dutch Sheets begins with a chapter called the Question.  The purpose of this opening chapter is geared toward evaluating who is in charge of your life.  Are you in charge?  Are you allowing others to boss you around or bully you into doing things you disagree with.  Or Jesus the Lord of your life, yielding control over to Him.

Like many people, I recently became aware of patterns of self-reliance.  Without any prayer, meditation or reflection, I have been making decisions on my own.  Some of these choices were not life altering, but its clear there are areas in my life where Jesus is not Lord.  Matthew 6:33-34 comes to mind, shining light on my lack of blessings over the last several months.  Unfortunately, I have wanted all these things without completing part 1, seeking God first and His righteousness.

If you want to be a disciple of Christ, its not easy.  Luke 9:57-62 serves as a warning.  Like Gina Davis in the movie A League of Their Own as she is about to quit the team, telling she Tom Hanks, her manager, “baseball got too hard”.  Hanks replies, “if it was easy, everyone would do it, its suppose to be hard, that’s what makes baseball great!”  The same can be said about being a disciple, the requirements are steep, yet the rewards are eternal.  Consider the cost before joining Jesus’ team and make sure you understand the commitment of being a Christian so that you will be fit for service.  Let Jesus take the reigns of your life, then hold on for the ride of your life!

  1. Woah! I’m really digging the template/theme of this website.

It’s simple, yet effective. A lot of times it’s very hard
to get that “perfect balance” between superb usability and appearance.
I must say you’ve done a amazing job with this. Also, the
blog loads extremely fast for me on Internet explorer.
    Superb Blog!
