This is What You Get When a Country Loses its Soul

Passage of the Day:

“Anyone who strikes a person with a fatal blow is to be put to death. 13 However, if it is not done intentionally, but God lets it happen, they are to flee to a place I will designate. 14 But if anyone schemes and kills someone deliberately, that person is to be taken from my altar and put to death. 15 “Anyone who attacks[c] their father or mother is to be put to death. 16 “Anyone who kidnaps someone is to be put to death, whether the victim has been sold or is still in the kidnapper’s possession. 17 “Anyone who curses their father or mother is to be put to death. 18 “If people quarrel and one person hits another with a stone or with their fist[d] and the victim does not die but is confined to bed, 19 the one who struck the blow will not be held liable if the other can get up and walk around outside with a staff; however, the guilty party must pay the injured person for any loss of time and see that the victim is completely healed,” Exodus 21:12-19.

Reflection:

Following the introduction of the Ten Commandments in Exodus 20, God spends the next few chapters laying out a series of civil laws regarding how you should treat your neighbor. Moses goes into greater details of these laws in the Books of Leviticus and Deuteronomy. The founding fathers of the United States based their judicial system on the laws God gave to Moses. However, when courts banned teachers and students from praying out loud in public schools, 1962, Judeo-Christian values started to fade. One year later the public reading of the Bible during homeroom was also banned. Forty years later, 2002, the Ten Commandments were banned from being displayed in courthouses. This is what you get after 80 years of removing the Bible and prayer from public education, a former president convicted of 34 crimes that weren’t clear during Trump’s trial.

Prayerful Action:

The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them; he delivers them from all their troubles, Psalm 34:17.

Beneath the Surface:

Like the great empires of the past, America is on the verge of collapse. As democratic and progressive leaders have followed the Saul Alinksy playbook by overwhelming the systems in America, this is what you get. Despite settlers from Europe coming to America to fulfill the Magna Carta, this religious founding has been removed from history textbooks. Now America finds itself like Israel rejecting God for a king in 1 Samuel 8. Only God knows the future, but for today, the apostle Paul’s prophecy in 1 Timothy 4:1-2 has been fulfilled. People now believe what their itching ears want to hear.

Final Thoughts:

American Justice was founded on the belief that human beings are innocent until proven guilty. Apparently, if your name is Donald J. Trump, this doesn’t apply. Perhaps, a word from King Solomon is a good place to end: God makes all things beautiful in His time, Ecclesiastes 3:11.

  1. Wise words. “Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!” –Isaiah 5:20
