Biblical Connection:
When a harmless extraterrestrial gets stranded on Earth, a young boy named Elliott bonds with this alien simply named ET. Elliott does his best to hide his discovery from his parents. As each initially struggle to communicate, Elliott finally realizes that ET just wants to go home. Elliott does everything in his power to help return his friend back to where he belongs.
Before the age of technology, letters and home telephones is how people communicated. Since long distance phone calls were extremely expensive growing up, I opted to write letters. In high school, if I needed a friend, I would drive to their house, sometimes waiting until they got home to pour out my heart. King Solomon reminds reader’s today that close friends can become more important than family, especially in times of need.
Closing Song:
When you notice that something isn’t right with a co-worker, family member, friend or neighbor, don’t hesitate to reach out to this individual. This random act of kindness will make a huge impact this summer.
