A Year 4 Transformation: Day 151-Waking Up in the Spirit

Passage of the Day:

Then Judas (not Judas Iscariot) said, “But, Lord, why do you intend to show yourself to us and not to the world?” 23 Jesus replied, “Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them. 24 Anyone who does not love me will not obey my teaching. These words you hear are not my own; they belong to the Father who sent me. 25 “All this I have spoken while still with you. 26 But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you. 27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid, John 14:22-27.

Reflection:

Regardless of your spiritual state, there will always be questions that you have for God to answer. Judas wondered why Jesus only revealed Himself to twelve men. Rather than openly respond, Jesus focuses on what is truly important. Listening, knowing and obeying the Bible’s teaching are the three essentials to becoming a follower of Jesus. Therefore, if you want to wake up in God’s Spirit, emulate Jesus’ practices in Mark 1.

Prayerful Action:

Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed, Mark 1:35.

Building Up Bible Believing Behaviors:

As a former assistant golf professional, there are numerous techniques available to teach individuals how to swing a golf club. Since human beings possess different abilities, heights and strength, you have to customize your instruction to each individual. In the same manner, some people love the mornings and others are night owls. The goal is when you enter God’s presence through prayer and Bible Study, do this when you are most awake. As you figure out your most productive time to be with God, you’ll be in a better position spiritually to wake up in the Holy Spirit.

Song of the Day:

Final Thoughts:

Whenever I have moving times in prayer or studying the Bible, I tend to have my most productive days at work. This was the inspiration behind today’s title, to wake up in God’s Spirit.
