Few books are compared to a sword. Nor are there many documents that are considered to be living and active. According to the prophet Isaiah, “though the grass withers and flowers fall, the word of God stands forever,” Isaiah 40:8. Thus, the Bible is more than just a best selling book, it is a book for the ages.
Meanwhile, the Psalmist writes about the Bible’s ability to provide direction, guidance and light for life’s steps in Psalm 119. Moses refers to God’s commands, decrees and laws as life in Deuteronomy 30. The apostle Paul took this one step further proclaiming faith comes from hearing and reading the word of God, Romans 10:17.
Recently, it seems like someone is condemned, criticized or demonized weekly because they actually quoted the Bible. If the media wants interviewees to be honest and open, they shouldn’t be shocked by their heart felt responses. Therefore, if the word of God offends you, it is suppose to according to Hebrews 4:12. Until the truth sets us free, we won’t become the man or woman God wants us to be. Open the Bible for yourself and you’ll see that this is more than a book.
