Remembering Joseph

When a person goes through an unexpected trial, Job is often the first person from the Bible people think about or compare their life to.  However, a life people overlook is that of Joseph of the Old Testament.  Except for thinking too highly of himself, Joseph was a person who endured many trials from Genesis 37-40.

Every time Joseph’s life appeared to improve, something else happened to make his situation worse.  Joseph was sold into slavery, falsely accused of adultery and spent time in jail for a crime he didn’t commit.  Like many people today, Joseph was innocent, yet experienced hardship, setbacks and probably in his own eyes, failure.  While Joseph had lost control of his life, God was working in the midst of his circumstances, leading him to Egypt.

Since January 2nd, I have felt like Joseph prior to Genesis 41:15-16, unaware of what God is doing and where He is leading me.  Although, I believe I have a divine appointment awaiting me like Joseph’s encounter with Pharaoh.  The hardest part is waiting, knowing God has a plan, yet baffled by the circumstances surrounding my life.  If you are in a similar situation, remember Joseph’s testimony, keep your head up and cling to the words of Genesis 45:5.  In the end, God knows best!
